Class of 1969

For those who attended our 40th Reunion last October, you will recall that due to the wonderful attendance, it was expected that after paying all our bills, we would have some money left over….that was indeed the case.

The Hillcrest Class of 1969 has awarded a $500 scholarship in memory of Coach George Tupman to the HHS graduating senior, Quinton Alton. Quinton was a member of the Hillcrest varsity football team. Quinton also has distinguished himself academically and will be attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the fall. Coach Tupman's son, Darin, was so moved by our plans that he contributed an additional $500 to the Scholarship making the entire Coach George Tupman Memorial Scholarship to be $1,000.

"Thank you" goes to Don Helms who represented our class in the presentation of the scholarship which was made at the Hillcrest graduation ceremony on May 16. "Thank you" also goes to Betty Hancock Hall who made the arrangements with Hillcrest High School for the award.

Approximately $300 remains in our Hillcrest Class of 1969 Reunion account. That money will be applied in 2014 toward our 45th Reunion expenses. Please remember to let me know if you move or if your email address changes. You don't want to miss our 45th Reunion!!
