Lynn Carrier '67 created this web page in 2004. Lynn passed away in January 2005. He spent many hours locating his classmates and compiling the information. He had a great time at the reunion. He will be missed. I am leaving this page just as he designed it (with updates when you send them to me).

Barbara Beeman
Spouse name: Glenn (Oz) Arundell
Children's names and ages none - married 1st time at age 44 We have 2 spoiled cats.
Grandchildren's names and ages
Occupation Admin Assist

Life since Hillcrest-- Graduated with a BS in Education from Oklahoma State University in 1971. Member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority. My parents moved to California while I was in college so moved there after graduation since there were no teaching jobs. Worked meaningless jobs in LA and San Francisico areas for 10 years. When I was 30 I put my backpack and sleeping bag in my car and traveled the US & Canada for 18 months - working when out of money and sleeping in my car. Great fun - met lots of great people and ended up in Alaska working in Prudhoe Bay. Worked as a Roustabout, Truck Driver, Bean Counter, and Construction Superintendent of Heavy Equipment in Prudhoe oilfields, where the pipeline begins. Was one of the first 4 women working up there - now there are lots of women in all kinds of jobs. Left the Slope to live a real life in 1992.
Been married for 10 years. My husband, Oz, still works on the Slope in a facility that separates the oil from the gas and water. He works one week on and one week off and commutes 800 miles to work. I am an Admin Asst for a small division of the University of Alaska that provides Safety and Environmental training for business and industry all over the state, with some international work in Russia and Aruba. No kids - 2 spoiled cats - lots of friends and 19 grand nieces and nephews.

Hobbies:
We like to fish - there are several species of salmon and we live near the premier sport fishing river in the world - the Kenai River. I garden, read mysteries, and used to belly dance before I got too old.

Diane DeVore
Spouse: Steve Horton
Occupation: Currently full time student

Steve and I have been married 26 years this month (April). Steve works in college athletics (administration, not coaching) so we have had the opportunity to live in several places: Atlanta, Athens (Ga), Kansas City, Blacksburg (Va), and for the past 6 years we have been in Tampa. This move has been wonderful for us because Steve's folks retired to the area a long time ago, and over the past 10-15 years my sister and brother-in-law, then my mother, then my niece all migrated to Orlando, so we get to spend a lot of time with family. I had been working as a paralegal, but got tired of lawyers (no offense to any legal classmates) and decided to go back to school. I am currently a full time undergrad at the University of South Florida, studying anthropology and humanities. I graduate in December, and am having a great time while I try to decide what I want to do when I grow up. I'm sorry I'll miss the reunion - I was looking forward to it - but I will be in Italy studying this summer.

I am President of the Boosters Club at school and teach the college class at church on Sunday's. Our lives are centered on the youth - our house is usually full. Pam has been a homemaker since Austine was born and I have retired numerous times. BellSouth was the first - 9 years ago. I took a year off and remodeled our former home. I then went to work for a competitor of BellSouth and became Vice President - Operations and moved to Dallas (without the family) for 6 months. After that, I retired again and became Vice President - Sales and Marketing for a communications company based in Boston. The company has since been sold and I am now CEO of a company called Lightcast Networks, Inc. As you can see, the Lord has blessed me tremendously.
We moved to our current home February of last year. We have 5 acres with a pond - keeps us busy. We have 2 dogs, 2 cats and various other animals that just seem to come and go. I hunt snakes for fun! The family loves living in the country.

Cary Rawlings
Spouse name: Drinda (class of '68)
Children's names and ages: Cara (29) & Kirk (26)
Grandchildren's names and ages: None yet (but hoping for some!)
Occupation: Vice President of an inventory management company

Life since Hillcrest: Went to Ole Miss on a golf scholarship. Graduated with a Business degree, got married to Drinda (Class of 68), moved to Memphis and went into sales with an industrial abrasives company. Had two wonderful (and a handful) children. Was with that company for 20 years in sales and sales management and then went to work as Sales Manager with a regional industrial distribution company in Nashville. We lived in Franklin, TN for seven years. That company was bought out (does that have a familiar ring to it?), so I then went with another distribution company which brought us back to the Memphis area. We settled in Collierville. I worked as Sales Manager for that company for three years and was made an offer to take over as Vice President of an inventory management company headquartered in Memphis in January of 2003. I was offered some ownership of this start up company, so at the ripe age of 55, I am starting a new career with hopes of building this company into a viable force in our industry (or at least grow it to a respectable size and value that I can sell out some day and retire with some dignity). Drinda is a guidance counselor at White Station Middle School and hopes to retire in a few years. Life is good!

Hobbies: Golf, music (guitar & harmonica), indoor soccer.

Occupation: Geologist Natural Resource Trustee for the Texas Commission of Environmental Quality
Hobbies over the years: I'm a licensed pilot in single engine land aircraft and gliders. I fish, hunt, and putter around with computer programs and my yard (let's say I don't exactly have a green thumb).

Short Bio since Hillcrest:
I graduated from Memphis State (now The University of Memphis) with a BS in Geology. I married the first time during this period.
I joined the Air Force and spent time on active duty and in the reserves. I left the Air Force a 1st Lieutenant. I worked for the State of Tennessee for a time after I left Air Force active duty. My first wife and I went our separate ways during this period.
I went back to Memphis State for a masters in geology and received a job offer from an oil field geoscience company (Continental Laboratories) based out of Denver, Colorado. I spent the next eleven years with this company and Baker Hughes (Eastman Christensen Directional Drilling). I met my second wife during this period and have been married twenty years. I'm very much looking forward to another twenty and more. The oil field played out in the U S in the early 90's and Christensen laid off our whole division. My wife urged me to find something outside the oil industry. For the first eight years of our marriage I was gone more than I was home. By gone I mean chasing oil rigs from McKenzie Bay in the Arctic Circle to the Gulf of Mexico and most the major oil and gas basins in between. She wanted me at the house and not gone all the time.
I've been working for the State of Texas and living in Austin for the last 13 years. This is the longest I have stayed in one place since I left Memphis ( back in the 70's). We've built a house in northeastern Austin and are looking forward to good years ahead, God willing.
My stepdaughter and the grand kids live about a mile or so from us so they keep us busy. My stepson lives in Memphis and we see him and the other granddaughter about every two years or so.
I won't be able to attend the reunion this time around. I would like to say hello and have a good life to all the folks in the Hillcrest Class of 1967.
Have a good one

My wife's name is Eileen.
I have two daughters, Jodi and Kelli, I also have a step son Jason Raines.
I own a consulting service.
I enjoy travel, golf, flying, and restoring a 1971 CUDA.

Life Since Hillcrest:
I have worked in the construction industry the last 30+ years. The last 14 years I worked for Williams Co. as a Project Manager building truck and travel centers all across the country.
The company that I worked for had a buy out, and all the people in management lost their jobs. As a result I started a consulting company working in the oil and gas industry.
My wife, daughter and I live on 16 acres in North Mississippi, had to get out of the city. It took a while for my wife to settle in, ducks, dogs, and a lot of piece and quiet.
Four years ago I discovered a Half Sister that I had not seen since I was 5 years old.
It has been a blessing to find her. We travel to AZ. two or three times a year to visit.
There have been a lot of challenges over the last 30+ years, but we all have our health, and life is GOOD>>>>>>>>>

Occupation: Good question!!! I was given a title too fancy to remember...small company, all family members except for me and a piece of cake compared to the job I had previously for 18 1/2 years...I have a hard time justifing my salary where I presently work...I guess I could be clasified as customer service..etc...I deal with lots of difficult people and situations, put together contract packets, at the same time I am feeding a bottle to a baby squirrel in my lap...

Short paragraph of your life since Hillcrest: This is impossible!!! My life has been very, full, untriditional, unpredictable, interesting, eventful, entertaining, frightful, and absolutely unbelievable...I am very independent and self sufficient...I prefered to live my life the way I wanted and not the way my family "thought" I should...My life has never been dull or boring...My friend Ann says I should write a book about my life but it would have to be put into the fiction section because nobody would believe everything that I have been through and still have my sanity and positive outlook on life!!! I spent a lot of years in the Dallas area, was in Wichita Falls when the grandaddy tornado hit there, 1 1/2 miles wide on the ground all the way thru Wichita Falls and into Oklahoma....3 tornados came together as one..I not only saw it come together but we were one of the first subdivisions to get hit full force!!! a catagory "5" , not something you soon forget...I left tornado alley and went to Hurrican Haven, the New Orleans area, and have been here since October 1980...where I go from here only the good lord knows...
Hobbies: Scuba Diving/open water certified, Volleyball, Crafts, and my most favorite is raising baby squirrels...the 3 we have now will make 14 that we have raised. Each and every one has a totally different personality of their own...they go from babies to adulthood in 4 to 4-1/2 months...It is illigal to keep them as pets so...yes...I cry a lot...but they are worth every tear...

Lynn Carrier
Spouse Name: Connie
Names and Ages of Children: Kristin 34; Jason 29
Names and Ages of Grandchildren: Justin 7, Hank 6, Alex 6, Reid 3, Anne Marie 3 months
Occupation: Tennessee Dept of Children Services
Hobbies: Gardening, House Fixing, Grandkids.

Short bio since the Hillcrest Days:
I rambled around and "enjoyed" a taste of life for a while; then graduated from U of Memphis with a BBA in 1977 and worked in the insurance business in Memphis and Nashville. There I married Connie 22 years ago, and she's never given me any trouble. The Home Insurance company sent us back to Memphis. Before we went to D.C., in '85 where I started working for CIGNA, she helped me finish my MBA from Memphis. Today, she works as an R.N. at the Vanderbilt Heart Cath lab. At the State, I ask questions on how best to protect the children who enter TNKids due to abuse, abandonment, and other horrible things. We scratched our mark roaming the East coast, and California -- moving 10 times & never staying at any place longer than 4.5 years running after dollars and prestige. And chasing airplane connections. We believe in happy endings and have never looked back.

For Connie to agree to go to Calif, where she worked at Stanford for a year, I promised to leave the travelling jobs to other people. But I just had to get part of the .COM boom money tree in Silicon Valley. We both come from families who moved to Tennessee before 1795. In our urge to get back, we bought 5.5 acres here in Cheatham County and we planted ourselves here in 2000. We gots dem roots and ain't movin no more!

We fix something all the time. The 45 year old house had been neglected until we moved in. The first year we didn’t have any air-conditioning or heat. Connie makes quilts, and the one she made for me won 2nd place at the Tennessee State Fair last year. We spend any free time with our gardens. We planted 50 blackberry plants. Last fall we planted about 700 daffodils, crocus, & narcissus. We love daylilies and Iris’s and we have about 100 of each. A friend promised us 200 daylilies and a woman promised her some old fashion daffodils and they will drive to her old home place and dig ‘em up. We give bouquets away all summer long to the old folks at the Sr. Center. That’s our life at the end of this glittering rainbow.

Occupation: Secretary in Chemistry Department at Southwest Missouri State University
Hobbies: tennis, traveling, sewing

Bio:
Sid and I have been married for 34 years. We spent 11 great years in Mississippi before moving to Missouri 16 years ago. After obtaining his PhD at Ole Miss, Sid moved us to Springfield where he has been teaching Accounting at Southwest Missouri State University. I worked for attorneys while in Jackson, MS, but so enjoyed working in an academic department at Ole Miss that I accepted a job in the Chemistry Department at SMSU. Working with and around young people is enjoyable and helps keep us young. I only work during the regular school year and have my summers free. This enables us to spend a large part of our summers traveling and visiting our families down south. We hope to retire in a few years and move back somewhere in the south--Missouri is just too cold for me! When I'm not at work or on the road, you can usually find me on the tennis court. After Sid and Heather, tennis is my next love.

Ron Gordon (Used to be "Ronald," or "Ronnie," or "Crow".)
Spouse # 1: Soul-sucking, she-demon from hell! (72-76)
Spouse # 2: Really good woman. I screwed that one up. (78-86)
Children: Brandi (31), Camille (24)
Grand kids: Kayla (11), John Austin (5)
Occupation: Staff member, theatre department, Southwest TN. Comm. College
(Technical director, set designer, theatre manger).

Life Since HHS
Joined army, two tours Vietnam, discharged in time to attend grad ceremonies class of 70. (still have photos). Worked dozens of jobs next 18 years, bartender, bouncer, club manager, freight docks, truck driver (local and road), car salesman (singular, only sold one), Pepsi route salesman (got fired for losing temper and beating Kroger manager with shopping cart), carpenter, etc. Went back to school in '88 and picked up associates degrees in computer engineering technology and biomedical engineering technology but remained in bar business because money was a lot better than entry level in chosen disciplines. Gave up bars and clubs about six years ago because I got tired of drunks hitting me with blunt instruments and sticking me with sharp objects.

Around 1980 I acquired a love of live theatre. Since that time I have appeared in over 75 productions on local and regional stages, garnering several acting awards. I also realized that I have a gift for the technical aspects of theatre, particularly set design and set construction. I was able to parlay these skills into my present position, a position that the state regulated to part-time due to budget cuts. Even though the gig doesn't pay the bills, (I have to freelance at other area theatres to maintain), I have finally found contentment and gratification in my career, at least til someone pisses me off. Richard Coleman
Spouse: Marilyn (elementary school teacher) - married 25 years this August
Children: Rebekah - 30 (previous marriage)
Grandchildren: Storm - 8, Joshua - 15mo. (what a couple of cuties)
Occupation: Currently unemployed, but have been in industrial electronic product management for over 17 years

Life after Hillcrest:

Spent one year at UT Martin and didn’t study quite hard enough. To avoid getting drafted, I joined the Navy and spent 6 years as a Sonar technician. When I got out of the Navy to go back to school again (with a little bit more mature attitude) I tried to get into Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, but they had a 2 year waiting list. My “early out” from the Navy wouldn’t go for that, so I enrolled in a EE program. Ended up switching to Computer Science after 2 years of the EE and later on I went back for an MBA. I’ve worked my way up from a technician to a design engineer and then moved into product management. Every time I get to a point where I think I have a shot at a senior staff level position, corporate decides to “reorganize”. I’ve been with 5 companies that have done this. At least with one of them, I sensed it coming and got out before hand. This last one (which I saw coming but because of the bad job market, couldn’t get out in time) occurred Dec 31 last year when the British company that owned us dropped all manufacturing and engineering operations in the U.S. Needless to say, if there is no engineering, there are no projects for me to manage. I wish I could go ahead and retire, but we just can’t afford it at this time. That’s also why I will not be able to make the reunion, as much as I would like to be there and see everyone.

Hobbies: Too many for one person. I bounce around from nature photography, woodworking (cabinet/furniture making, woodturning and carving), art (watercolor and pen & ink drawing), playing acoustic guitar and model railroading. I also collect old cameras, slide rules and old writing/drawing instruments (dip pens and nibs). On top of all that, we bought a Harley a couple of years ago and love cursing on that. Last summer we spent 11 days riding around California just having as ball. Unfortunately all the hobbies that require spending a lot of money are on hold. Something will come along soon and I hope to one day be able to ride the bike over there.

Occupation: President / Owner Mortgage Company in the Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex

Life since Hillcrest;

Accepted at Memphis State but I made the decision to move to Dallas, Texas and accept an offer to become an Airline stewardess which was great as I had the opportunity to travel the world and learn what I did not learn in High School. I married Doug Stanford in 1969 and continued to fly with the Airline. In 1974 Doug and I gave birth to a wonderful baby girl which was truly one of the most magnificent experiences of my life. I then resigned and stayed home with Adrian during her formative years. In 1977 I accidentally got a job in the Mortgage Banking Business which came to be a fabulous career and I currently enjoy everyday of actively working as the President / Owner of a Mortgage Broker Firm serving the Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex.

My parents, my sisters and all their families have all moved to Dallas.

Fred Rice
Spouse: Karen Baty
Children: William Frederick (Will)- 4 1/2
Andrew Vernon (Drew) - 4 1/2
(YEAH....you read that right FOUR AND HALF!)
Grandchildren: Are you kidding...? !
Occupation: Technical Advisor, Federal Express Corp.

Life after Hillcrest
Bumped around after Hillcrest for a few years, various schools, and so on. Married Karen Baty (Fred's sister) in August. 1973, and been together ever since. Entered the Information Technology field in 1969, with Holiday Inns, and I've been employed in this field since then. I've been at Federal Express since 1976...WOW! Never thought I'd stay ANYWHERE that long! I'm now a Technical Advisor still in the IT field with FedEx. I plan on retiring one of these days, but it seems nature finally rewarded our perseverance with two wonderful twin boys in September, 1999, Will and Drew. They are the true lights of my life...along with my wife, of course (she made me say that!).
Karen graduated from Memphis State with a Bachelors in English, and went back for her Masters in English. Being true to form, in that English majors seldom find employment in their chosen profession...she now owns and manages Chestnut Hall Interiors, a home furnishings and interior design store. Her store is located in Germantown, TN, although she has clients all across the US.

We live in Germantown, TN, along with our two dogs: Trixie, a spoiled rotten rat terrier, and Scooter, an equally spoiled black lab...!

Hobbies:
Besides RC planes and computers, I bought something in 2000 I had always secretly wanted since 1966...a replica of a 1965 Shelby Cobra. It's a blast to drive - 560 horses, and 2400 lbs!!! It's guaranteed to bring a smile to your face, and I attend various Cobra-related racing events around the US with it. The body may be getting a little worn out, but the desire's still there!

Wendy Soderlund
Spouse name: Edward Pultz (I kept my birth name)
Children's names and ages: Matthew, 25; Alison, 23

Grandchildren's names and ages: none Occupation: Early Childhood Education

Short paragraph of your life since Hillcrest
We came to Missouri because land was cheap and I got the only job I could find, working for Head Start to support our new commune. The communal experience was a short lived one, but my early childhood connection has never ended. I ended up with two masters, one in Child & Family Development, and an MBA. We bought an old, 'starter' home 24 years ago in a small (pop. 12,000) southeast Missouri town of Farmington and have never moved because 1) Edward has developed a wonderful organic garden and 2) it's within easy walking distance of our Presbyterian church. I started college courses in early childhood and a child care center at our local college, had an industry-based child care center and a children's toy and book store, worked for Parents As Teachers and now work for my third Head Start program, which I dearly love. With the collapse of my business ventures, I had the time to start a solid original (domestic) violence program with input from hundreds of people. Later my family and I were part of a team to begin a local Habitat for Humanity chapter as we enjoy both the behind the scenes work and the actual building of homes.

Hobbies:
Supporting my brother and his family, hang gliding, genealogy, web building, visiting 'Aunt Dot' at thenursing home, Habitat for Humanity

LINDA BREAZEALE
Spouse: John Scarbrough
Children: Shelley - 22 years old. Graduating this May 29th from Birmingham-Southern College with a degree in business administration. Hopefully, a job is coming soon in Birmingham.
Carol - 20. Carol's a junior at Ole Miss majoring in dietetics and nutrition.
Jill - 17. Jill is about to enter her senior year in high school and plans to go to Ole Miss for college.

Life after HHS:
I went to SMU for 1 1/2 years and transferred to Memphis State where I graduated in August, 1972. After a five year marriage to my high school boyfriend, the marriage ended and I found my soul mate. John and I have been married for 26 wonderful years. We have the three beautiful daughters that we treasure. All three are bright, happy, well-rounded individuals and distinctly different! Sports was important to all and I have spent more hours than I could possibly count on the road driving teams all over Mississippi! John and I lived in Memphis for 6 years (where Shelley was born). He was transferred to the Mt. Pleasant, Iowa plant and we lived there for 2 years (where Carol was born). He was then sent to Columbus, Mississippi where we've been for 19 1/2 years (where Jill was born). John has been with Ceco Building Systems for 40 years on June 1st and he is now President of the company. That sends him traveling quite a bit and I am fortunate enough to travel some with him. The company has plants in Columbus, Mt. Pleasant, and Rocky Mt., North Carolina. Does anyone want to buy a steel building? Not the kind you put your lawn mower in but a BIG building!

As for me, I have spent the last 22 years being a mother and loving every second of it. I was blessed to be able to stay home and "mother" them. Want to watch me cringe? Ask me if I'm a "working" mother! I have worked harder than I ever did when I drew a salary! Wouldn't swap it for anything. I was the P.T.A. president, room mother, etc. I have one year left of that and then our nest will be empty. I play tennis whenever I can so I'll probably play a LOT more! My primary roll will return to "wife".....but that's good, too. Even though the girls aren't living at home, I still talk to them daily and spend a good amount of time with them.

Would love to hear from you. My address is linbs AT hotmail DOT com. I won't be at the reunion because Shelley is graduating that day. Still can't believe a college has graduation on Memorial Day weekend!

Bill Smith
Spouse name: Marge
Children's names and ages: Rebecca, 22
Grandchildren's names and ages: none
Occupation: Occupational Safety and Health Manager

Life since Hillcrest:
After a very fun, but not too successful, couple of years at UT Martin and Memphis State, I avoided the draft by joining the Air Force. The next 24 years found me working most maintenance aspects for missile systems to include air launched strategic, ICBMs, ground launched cruise missiles in Europe and air to air weapons for fighters. During that time, I managed to finish my education and become a commissioned officer. Like most in the military, we moved often and had assignments ranging from Belgium to California to Wyoming to Florida and many points in between. After having all the fun I could stand, I retired from all that in ’92. I stayed home for about 14 months, completed all the honey do’s, started to get hooked on the daytime soaps, so decided it was time to get back to work. I am currently the systems safety manager for the Air Force Special Operations Command. We have lived and worked along the Redneck Rivera, (Florida panhandle) on and off for about 15 years now and love it here. One day, I might retire again, but currently am having too much fun doing what I do. Traveling with someone else paying the bills and being involved in development of new technology, providing safe to operate aircraft, weapons systems and flight platforms for the Air Force.

Hobbies: Fishing, golf and older muscle cars

Thanks for your efforts to get these all together for us all.

DONNA HILTON
Spouse: Currently single (divorced in 2001 after 25 years together)
Children: 2 step-children Joey - 37 (Regional manager, Stanley Morgan Investments)
Jennifer - 32 (Montessori teacher)
Grandchildren: 5 total, ranging from 10 to 2 (divorce or no, I'm still the Nana--- and love it!)
Occupation: Clinical Psychologist, private practice, in Wilmington, DE

Life Since Hillcrest:
I quickly became the quintessiential "gradual student," i.e., went to college until I gradually got sick of it. Even though I had wanted to be a clinical psychologist in high school, I wound up getting my B.S. in Math and Physics, and an M.S. in Biochemistry and Biophysics. Then I finally went back to my first love and got my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology----emphasis on Child and Family Therapy. By then, folks were starting to wonder if I'd ever earn a real living! But it was worth it. I've been in practice for over 20 years and still love it. I feel very grateful that I get to do what I most enjoy.

I got married soon after graduate school. Joe (my ex) was in academia, and we moved to several universitiy sites ---Houston, TX (Rice University), State College, PA (where we were both professors at Penn State U.), and Atlanta, GA.(Georgia Tech). When I met Joe, his children were young enough that I got to really be a mother to them. So now even after the divorce, I still get to be part of their lives-----and especially be the grandmother!!

In 2003, I moved from Atlanta to Wilmington, DE. It was the first move I'd made on my own since my early 20's, and it was a little tough, especially since my mother died within a few weeks after I got here. I'm still not emotionally "moved in" to my home yet. Nonetheless I love the people I'm in private practice with----most of us were in training together. In fact, my favorite mentor is now one of my partners. So that part feels like coming home.

I'm just starting to date again----and feeling just as nervous as I did in high school! Except now it's even trickier. I miss the wild and crazy '60's and '70's.

I enjoy hiking with my dog, landscaping, reading, bellydancing (great fun unless my back is acting up!), and traveling. I got to tour Australia a few years ago. It's now one of my favorite places. It felt like a spiritual journey.

I loved reading everyone's profile. So eager to see you all !!!

Educating future generations

It has been said that teachers affect eternity because their words of encouragement and their inspiration are passed on from generation to generation. Nell Louise Fowinkle, 54, a patient at Wesley Highland Manor, was born with a congenital anomaly, but defeated her condition and went on to teach her students that "you can achieve what you can dream."

BEING THE BRILLIANT BOYS WE WERE, ONLY TOOK US ONE SEMESTER TO FIGURE THE ECONOMICS OF THIS SITUATION SEEMED OUT OF WHACK. WE BOTH TRANSFERRED BACK TO U OF M...THAT IS MEMPHIS FOR ALL YOU MISSISSIPPI BOYS. GRADUATED IN MAY OF 1971 AT WHICH TIME PHYLLIS INFORMED ME IT WAS TIME THAT WE GOT MARRIED. I TOLD HER I DIDN T HAVE A JOB, AND SHE TOLD ME THAT WAS MY PROBLEM. WE WERE MARRIED AUG 21, 1971...THIS AUG WILL BE 36 YEARS...PLUS 7.5 YEARS OF DATING! HAS EXCEEDED MY WILDEST DREAMS. THINK IT WAS PROVERBS THAT SAYS SOMETHING LIKE WHEN GOD GIVES YOU A WIFE, HE GIVES YOU A GOOD THING. WOW, WAS THAT AN UNDERSTATEMENT FOR ME!

RECEIVED MY MASTERS IN MANAGEMENT FROM U/M IN 1981 AND AFTER 10 YEARS WORKING WITH MEMPHIS LIGHT, GAS, AND WATER I DECICDED TO TAKE A CHANCE ON A FLY BY NIGHT COMPANY BY THE NAME OF FEDERAL EXPRESS...WHAT A CHANCE I TOOK ON THAT ONE, EH? REALLY, REALLY...PHYLLIS AND I LIKE WALKING, GARDENING, AND RIDING MY MOTORCYCLE (YAMAHA SILVERADO...THAT IS RIGHT HARLEY BOYS...METRIC: TWICE THE BIKE, HALF THE PRICE! WE CAN DISCUSS THIS MORE AT THE REUNION). WE ENJOY SPENDING TIME WITH OUR KIDS, GRANDKIDS, AND FRIENDS. HOPE TO BE TAKING MORE AND MORE WEEKEND TRIPS IN THE NEAR FUTURE.

BOTTOM LINE: PHYLLIIS AND I HAVE BEEN BLESSED MUCH, MUCH MORE THAN WE COULD EVER DESERVE...GREAT KIDS, SUPERB GRANDCHILDREN, AND GOOD HEALTH (MINUS SOME ACHES AND MINOR POPPING NOISES FROM TIME TO TIME). GOD HAS EXCEEDED OUR EXPECTATIONS AS WE CONTINUE TO GROW IN TRUST AND FAITH. BUT...THERE HAVE BEEN SOME VALLEYS ALONG THE JOURNEY, AND IF YOU WANT TO HEAR "THE REST OF THE STORY" JOIN US SUNDAY MORNING AT 9:15 (WILL HAVE FREE COFFEE AND SWEET ROLLS IF YOU NEED MORE INCENTIVE).

WE ARE EXCITED ABOUT SEEING WHAT GOD HAS IN STORE FOR THE NEXT PHASE OF LIFE. I THINK IT WAS ROBERT BROWING WHO SAID...COME GROW OLD WITH ME, THE BEST IS YET TO BE. I THINK IT WILL BE...AND THIS WEEKEND WILL BE A GOOD START!

Life since Hillcrest:
Graduated from Christian Brothers College (Now CBU) in 1971 with a B.S. in Business Admin. Bob (Robert) Wiley and D.C. Kolwyck (My best friends all these years) still believe I went on line and paid $20.00 for a diploma - certificate.

I married Margaret (maggie) Ray (69 Oakhaven) in 1971. We've been together 34 wonderful years. She's hot! We have two precious and healthy children. Chris works for the radio/tv station WYPL 89.3 at the Memphis Public Library and Carey is a dental assistant. We've camped, vacation and traveled but have always come home to Memphis.

I've been in the Insurance Claims business for 31 years, starting as an adjuster and now Claims Manager for Memphis Area Transit Authority (Boy, can I tell you some stories.)

Margaret and I plan to retire in 5-7 years to the country. We purchased a Retirement home and 14 acres in Lexington, TN., where we go on weekends. I always thought you downsized when you retire and stayed close to your doctors and the hospital, but that is not the case with us.

I have stayed close to and been best friends to Bob and D.C. all these years and I wouldn't have changed a thing, as long as you have your health, love, friends and believe in the almighty what more do you need.

Hobbies: I love riding my Goldwing in the country and on trips with friends when I can. I enjoy working with Margaret at our retirement home and love anything to do with the out doors.

We had a great time at the 40 yr. reunion and want to thank everyone involved.
